Hygienist

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Hygienist to join our dynamic team. As an integral part of our clinic, you will deliver high-quality dental care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling and root planing, to remove plaque, calculus, and stains.
  • Apply preventive materials such as fluorides and sealants.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
  • Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including periodontal screenings and charting.
  • Provide patient education on oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and preventive measures.
  • Document patient treatment and oral health conditions accurately and comprehensively.
  • Administer local anesthetic as allowed by state regulations.
  • Perform periodontal maintenance.

Clinical Duties

  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and OSHA regulations.
  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with patients, dentists, and other dental staff.
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to patients regarding their oral health.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.

Professional Development

  • Stay current with advancements in dental hygiene practices and technologies.
  • Participate in continuing education courses and professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid Dental Hygienist license in Alberta.
  • Certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments.
  • Proficiency in taking and developing dental radiographs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge  of OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
